While studying in Korea I learned to throw Sabal (사발) as a foundational form and I fell in love with its difficulty yet visual simplicity. Each Sabal is hand thrown off of a hump so there will be minor variations in each bowl as shown in the photos above. I hope you will enjoy using these bowls as much as I do and whether you use them for food or decoration is solely up to you.

*Every piece I make has what I call the “human touch” where I have intentionally left a small area where my thumb held the vessel while slipping the piece or glazing (leaving it unglazed). These are intentional and not imperfections in the slipping or glazing process and they do not harm the use or longevity of your pieces. I hope it creates a sense of comfort and grounding in a world that has become so manufactured. It serves as a reminder that human touch and human interaction is important.
